University of Tampere

The University of Tampere is one of the largest universities in Finland, with about 14.500 students. It is a full-scale university with six faculties. The Department of Computer Sciences, founded in 1965, belongs to the Faculty of Information Sciences. As a sizeable part of the department, Tampere Unit for Human-Computer Interaction (TAUCHI) consists of 45 staff members. Two of the four TAUCHI research groups, Multimodal Interaction (MMI), and Speech-based and Pervasive Interaction Group are participating in this project. The department manages several projects in human-technology interaction. In FP5 and FP6 TAUCHI has coordinated several research projects. In addition, there are multiple research projects funded by the Academy of Finland (basic research) and the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation (Tekes, applied research).
