With sales of 46.3 billion in 2007, Bosch is one of Germany’s largest industrial enterprises with a strong international focus. The group employs some 271,000 associates in the areas of automotive technology (61 % of sales), industrial technology (13 % of sales) as well as consumer goods and building technology (26 % of sales). The special ownership structure of Robert Bosch GmbH guarantees the entrepreneurial freedom of the Bosch Group, enabling the company to plan over the long term. Ninety-two percent of the share capital is held by Robert Bosch Stiftung GmbH, a charitable foundation.
Bosch considers occupational training an integral part of its social responsibility. Worldwide more than 6,000 young people, of whom around 4,400 are in Germany, receive high-quality training of this kind.
In the field of research and development with some 29,000 associates, Bosch’s expenditure totals 7.7 % of sales. In 2007 we applied for 3,280 patents for inventions worldwide. At Bosch, the way we do business is in tune with environmental protection. Already back in 1973, the Bosch Group specified protection of the environment as being one of its business objectives – it is therefore assigned the same high importance as the quality of Bosch products and the efficiency with which the company does business.
