CEA is the French Atomic Energy and Alternative Energies Commission (Commissariat à l'Energie Atomique et aux Energies Alternatives). A leader in research, development and innovation, the CEA mission statement is to become the leading technological research organization in Europe. CEA is active in four main areas: low-carbon energies, defence and security, information technologies and health technologies. In each of these fields, CEA maintains a cross-disciplinary culture of engineers and researchers, building on the synergies between fundamental and technological research. CEA key figures are: 10 research centres, more than 16 000 staff, more than 1500 PhD students and 300 post-doctoral students, 169 start-ups since 1972 in the innovative technologies sector, 4,3 billion euros budget, 760 European projects obtained with CEA participation under the European FP7 since 2007. Inside CEA, the LIST institute is located in the University Paris Saclay campus – the largest French scientific cluster with more than 60 000 students. With a staff of 700 researchers and a portfolio of around 100 industrial partnerships each year, CEA LIST focus their research on four main technology areas: advanced manufacturing, embedded systems, ambient intelligence, health ionizing radiations. The Institute has developed many strategic academic and industrial partnerships in key industry sectors (aeronautics and space, automative, energy, health and defense). CEA LIST is also involved in more than 200 European collaborative projects and collaborates intensively with leading foreign academic laboratories in Europe and worldwide.(Provided and approved by Robert Sylvain on 2015-05-27)
