ITEA and Canada strengthen ties during a 4-day joint event

Hosted by the National Research Council (NRC) Canada, ITEA Chairman Rudolf Haggenmüller took part in a 4-day event in Ottawa and Winnipeg on 15-18 June to strengthen the ties between ITEA and Canadian organisations and Public Authorities.

The event started in Ottawa on 15 June, with an ITEA 3 roundtable meeting with presentations from NRC, NRC’s Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP), Industry Canada, the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development and ITEA 3.

On the event’s third day an ITEA 3 orientation workshop was held. After a comprehensive overview of EUREKA Canada by NRC and NRC-IRAP, Rudolf Haggenmüller presented ITEA and possibilities for Canadian organisations to become involved. Lora Kushner of Norima Consulting then gave a very striking practical example in an ITEA 3 showcase. In the afternoon, 17 project ideas were presented that came from various Canadian organisations and which were prepared together with NRC. Afterwards, Rudolf Haggenmüller gave a workshop on how to use the ITEA Project Idea Tool and how to prepare towards ITEA’s second Call for projects, opening with the ITEA PO Days 2015, a 2-day brokerage event in Brussels taking place on 22-23 September. Presentations by NRC-IRAP and the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development closed this very productive workshop day.

On 18 June, the main focus was on ‘Doing business in Europe’, with presentations by and a group discussion with WTC Winnipeg, Pivot Advisory, Export Development Canada and TDS Law. A presentation on ‘International Relationship Building’ closed the day.

Initial results of this fruitful 4-day event in Ottawa and Winnipeg are already tangible, as multiple Canadian organisations have registered for the PO Days in Brussels so far and several project ideas are in preparation in the ITEA project idea tool.
