The future of our shopping is Amazon-like? Is it over? Does it mean the crash of the retail industry?

18 February 2019

Retailing is still a huge business with €2.56 trillion/year, but also a huge employer at European level (accounting for almost 9% of all jobs). But retailers are under a huge pressure from E-commerce with Amazon (2018 net revenue USD 232.88 billion) being the most aggressive but also the most innovative. Barco at the forefront of Smart cities

12 November 2018

I had a singular opportunity to be invited to the Barco VX Innovation Days. A unique moment where Barco invites its key customers, shows unprecedented innovation and gathers user requirements to further adapt the Barco products. I have seen an incredible amount of impressive innovations, like this world premiere of the RigiFlex screen. This rollable screen can be stretched to 10m*3.8m and is extremely stable; this was demonstrated by the renowned tennis player Yanina Wickmayer, who practised her tennis serve on it. I was excited to see that some Smart Cities innovations arose from previous ITEA projects, like the awarded C³PO and JEDI projects and also the 3D-Testbench project.

Smart Cities - an ITEA initiative

15 September 2015

blog #9 image

The ITEA board decided to strengthen even more the business orientation of the ITEA programme by setting up customer and end-user workshops. The target of these new workshops is to clarify the international customers and end-user needs and to build our future ITEA proposals from these actual urgent demands.

The theme of the first workshop was Smart City and gathered several cities, industrials and SMEs.

The quality of the job done during this workshop will ensure that we now have the right input to set up ITEA proposals on Smart City with high potential. We forecast several proposals during our next PO Days, taking place on 22-23 September in Brussels.

Pleased to meet you there!
